A Robert Garrard sterling silver dish 28 cm across and 3 1/2 cm high weighs 868 grams. The plate is London, 1804, George III. Unfortunately the reverse in engraved with a presentation inscription from 1985. While Garrards have been the Royal Goldsmiths since 1830 (after the decline of Rundel, Bridge and Rundel), they had been the makers of silver to George III as Prince of Wales and also to his father, Frederick, Prince of Wales. Oddly, there is no crest, motto or armorial present. Nor is there any sign of there having ever been one.
